Frequently asked questions

About FluencyFlow

What is FluencyFlow?
FluencyFlow is an AI-powered spoken English assessment for hiring. It runs an adaptive conversation with the candidate, instead of a fixed set of questions, and scores the result against CEFR in minutes.
Who is FluencyFlow for?
Recruiting and HR teams that need to check a candidate's spoken English before moving them forward in the hiring process, from a single role to high-volume recruiting operations.
Which industries benefit most from FluencyFlow?
FluencyFlow works for any company's HR or recruiting team, screening for any role that requires spoken English. It tends to add the most value in industries where hiring depends heavily on English, like BPO and contact centers, HR outsourcing, global IT and services, and multinational supply chain operations, along with automotive, hospitality, and healthcare companies hiring for roles with an English requirement.

HOW IT WORKS

How does FluencyFlow work in a hiring process?
It replaces the manual English check recruiters normally run before moving a candidate forward. Pick a topic for the role, send the candidate the assessment link, and the AI leads a conversation that adapts to what they say. Every candidate is scored against the same CEFR standard, in minutes, before ever reaching the interview stage.
Does FluencyFlow replace the interview?
No. It replaces the English screening step that happens before the interview, so the interview itself can focus on everything else.
How long does the assessment take?
Between 15 and 25 minutes on average. The length adapts to how much the candidate says: it's shorter if they give brief answers or struggle to understand the questions, and longer if they engage more with each one.
Can we customize the assessment for different roles?
Yes. You can set up a separate group for each need, for example one per open role, and each group has its own template. Customize that template with topics related to the role and seniority level, no need to write questions yourself.

Trust and Accuracy

What does the CEFR result mean?
CEFR (the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is the international standard for describing language proficiency, from A1 (beginner) to C2 (near-native fluency). It's the same scale used by schools, universities, and language certifications worldwide, so a FluencyFlow result means the same thing to anyone on your team, regardless of their own English level. FluencyFlow scores every conversation natively on this scale, so there's no separate score to translate or interpret.
How is an AI spoken English assessment different from a written English test?
A written or multiple-choice test checks vocabulary and grammar knowledge on paper. FluencyFlow evaluates a real spoken conversation, so the result reflects how someone actually communicates, not just what they can recognize on a test.
Can candidates prepare their answers in advance?
No. Each question is generated in real time based on what the candidate just said, so there's no fixed set of questions to study or pass along to other candidates.
How does FluencyFlow handle different accents?
FluencyFlow measures how clear and natural someone's speech is, not whether it matches a specific accent. A regional or first-language accent doesn't lower the score as long as the candidate can be understood. The underlying voice technology is trained on a wide range of speakers, backgrounds, and proficiency levels, and supports both American and British English.

Implementation and Pricing

Can FluencyFlow integrate with our ATS?
Yes. FluencyFlow connects to your ATS via REST API and webhooks. We already have documented integrations with Gupy, Workable, Greenhouse, Lever, Bullhorn, and Jobvite. If your team uses a different ATS, our team builds a custom integration so FluencyFlow still fits into the flow you already have.
Is the assessment recorded?
Yes. Every assessment is captured in audio and video by default, giving your team a full record to review internally if a result is ever questioned.
Can we run this at high volume?
Assessments can be grouped by role, department, hiring cycle, or stage, so large batches stay organized.
How is FluencyFlow priced?
Through a credit package sized to your expected volume. See Pricing for details.
Can I try FluencyFlow before buying?
Yes. You can try a free sample assessment yourself to see exactly what your candidates will experience, before committing to a package.
